World Photography Day

Ethical Storytelling

In an era where the digital landscape increasingly embraces video and algorithms prioritize brief clips, often reducing our attention spans, I still choose still photography as my preferred means of visual communication. In a fast-paced world, a photograph invites us to stop, reflect, and delve into an idea, which is precisely why my passion for photography endures.

Every year on August 19th, World Photography Day provides a chance for those who appreciate the art form to take a moment to reflect on our motivations and to pay tribute to the photographers and organizations that have shaped and continue to shape our perspectives.

As I progress in my own photography journey, it is crucial for me to keep evolving, which involves confronting challenging questions. This is why I engage in courses such as the recent ‘Ethical Storytelling’ course offered by Photographers Without Borders, among others.

At a time when journalism faces attacks from biased agendas, misinformation is widespread, and the world is flooded with AI-generated images, the need for authentic and ethical visual storytellers to persevere has never been greater.

Happy World Photography Day!
